TradeVec includes two
sophisticated data and order simulation environments that allow you to learn
TradeVec and place simulated orders to test your strategies.
1.
Data Simulation Environment 1
2.
Order Simulation Environment 2
1. Data Simulation Environment
Through
the Data Simulation Environment (DSE) DataVec generates simulated Bids, Asks,
Trades and Market Depth (Level2) data for you.
It provides three simulated symbols:
For FOREX: -SIM-FOREX1
For
Futures: -SIM-FUTROOT1
For
Stocks: -SIM-STOCK1
|
|
Note all simulated symbol names start
with a dash ( - )
|
To
access the simulated data simply use the three simulated symbol names above
anywhere you would normally use real live symbol names.
For
example use them in the charts, quote window and anywhere else where you
normally use real symbols.

In a
Quote Window

2. Order Simulation Environment
The
Order Simulation Environment (OSE) allows you to keep trading as usual but
without sending your orders to your real account.
Instead
they are routed to DataVec’s internal order simulation environment which
simulates fills with intelligent algorithms.
This
allows you to learn TradeVec or test your strategies without any risk to your
live account.
The OSE
can be activated separately for each feed that you have connected in TradeVec.
To
activate the Order Simulation Environment for a given feed do the following:
1. Open
Feeds and Accounts Manager (FAM) by clicking its icon
in the TradeVec toolbar
2. You
will now see FAM open. Select the feed
for which you want to turn on order simulation by clicking its icon in the left
tree.
|
|
Currently we support Trading Technologies and CAX feeds for simulated
orders.
|

3. Check
the box that says Enable DataVec Order Simulation on the bottom of the right
pane.

4. Click
Apply and then Click Close to close Feeds and Accounts Manager.
When a
feed has order simulation mode activated for it you will see its connection
icon turn blue.
This
shows you clearly that the orders for this feed will not be sent to your live
trading account.

5. To
disable Order Simulation repeat Steps 1 to 4 about but instead in step 2 you
will un-check the Enable DataVec Order Simulation box.
You
should see the feeds connection icon turn green
This
means that orders for this feed will be sent to your live trading account
again.
|

|
When switching from simulated to live
orders all your current simulated positions will first be canceled for you to
avoid confusion between simulated and real orders when trading your live
account.
When switching from live to simulated orders
you must exit all live positions before you can switch. If you try to turn on order simulation
while you still have positions in your live account TradeVec will not allow
this and will warn you that you must exit your live positions first.
